Independent consultants are allied health practitioners approved by the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA). They provide independent peer reviews of physical or psychological allied health treatment within the NSW workers' compensation system.
A peer review gives insurers and treating practitioners an objective view of whether current treatment is helping an injured worker recover and return to work. Evaluate Medicolegal arranges independent consultant reviews with experienced physiotherapists, chiropractors and psychologists.
The consultant provides an expert opinion on
- Treatment duration, frequency, and whether treatment is reasonably necessary
